Described by The Obelisk as “among the best in the world at what they do,” the doom-metal musicians of Japan's CHURCH OF MISERY headline Freak Sabbath Vol.5, their set will demonstrate why Metal-Archives.com calls the band “a fairly unique and contradictory example of how dark, disturbed, catchy, and even fun this type of music can be.”
Based in Tokyo and famed for melding psychedelic rock with the tenets of early Black Sabbath-style metal. Blinded by Sound praised their “diabolical groove metal” while calling the work “a menacing way to dip into the blood pool for fans who have missed the bus on the first pass.”
The legendary stoner rockers NIGHTSTALKER are back! One of the first bands of the genre present their 8th album after their first EP (SideFX) back in 1994 (the grunge rock era). This time the album hits directly to the soul. 8 new tracks which are different to each other, combining groovy parts with heaviness and melodies. The guitars are still heavy but spacey and psychedelic at the same time. The bass is always groovy with intense playing. All together with a lot of catchy melodies and the power of Argy’s vocals are the secret of the music of Nightstalker. Raw rock 'n roll simplicity, stunning riffs and electric haze are what have kept the band going for more than 20 years. Produced by Nightstalker again and this time it is recorded and mixed at ‘Wreck it Sound Studios’. Listening to Nightstalker you can figure out why Greece is the perfect country for stoner rock bands and why the Greek stoner scene is one of the greatest worldwide.

BLACK PYRAMID play doom with the rumbling down-tuned tones of stoner metal gods like Sleep, Electric Wizard, and High On Fire, but with the epic arrangements of old school metal and doom acts such as Black Sabbath, Pentagram, and The Obsessed.
Add to the sonic brew perfectly executed forays into vintage psych and progressive rock, along with the apocalyptic lyrical ravings about war, the occult, and general alienation, and you've got an accurate picture of what the band is all about.
Formed in 2016, HIGH REEPER is made up of Zach Thomas, Justin Di Pinto, Andrew Price, Pat Daly and Shane Trimble. Originally started as just a studio band, it rapidly became apparent that these songs were meant to be heard live and loud.
The band made their debut in the Philly/DE stoner rock scene in early 2017 with success which was followed up by the recording of their self-titled debut in May. With a sound deeply rooted in modern stoner rock while still giving a nod to the earliest Sabbath records, High Reeper's first offering is driven by pounding rhythms, thick guitars and soaring, screeching vocals.
Texas outfit CRYPT TRIP blends elements of blues, rock, and jazz, as evidenced by their acclaimed debut Rootstock and, now, the LP Haze County, due 8 March via Heavy Psych Sounds. The album comes ahead of heavy activity for the band, including a late summer appearance at the much-lauded 2019 Roadburn Festival. All that, of course, comes after the release of the latest Crypt Trip single, "To Be Whole", which combines the rumble 'n' roll of classic acts such as Grand Funk Railroad, the James Gang, Blue Cheer, the MC5, and Cream.
On the south coast of England something ugly is stirring. Something that smells of patchouli oil, damp leather and cheap cider drunk beneath the nicotine-stained ceilings of grotty pubs. It’s the aroma of the 1970s, from a time when men grew their hair and denim flared and guitars sounded like motorbikes and punk didn’t exist and no one had invented disco yet and the sickly-sweet stink of Red Leb lingered in the air.
It’s THE ADMIRAL SIR CLOUDSELY SHOVELL. They rock like bands used to. And they’re in it for the long haul. “As long as there’s air in these lungs and I can keep a fist across the fretboards,” says bassist/singer Louis Comfort-Wiggett, “we’ll continue purloining the riff archives for more and more of the usual inane sounds.”
With three albums under their belt (with another 10 to follow, apparently) ASCS have already plundered the riff archives a-plenty. Last year’s Keep It Greasy was described by Classic Rock as a “welcome dose of balls-out and booze-bothered rock’n’roll that knows its onions and likes its eggs sunny side up”, and they’ve followed it up with new single Nightmare, a demented slurry of bong-ready riffs and maniacal soloing accompanied by a video we can’t even begin to fathom.
